A Blood Angels Marine shares a human moment with a fleeing mother and her daughter.

A new Artwork for you all. This is a portfolio peice thats taken a while to finish between other things.
I'm quite pleased with this, the lighting being great fun to mess with.

I wanted to show that a Space marine is meant to be something like 9 foot tall after all the genetic manipulation that have, so putting one next to a normal human mother and her daughter really brought that comparison home.

I liked drawing the little space marine plush toy the girl has in her hand. Kind of a nice little story there as the girl, who's been playing with her teddy, final meets the real thing and is awe struck by it.

Enjoy

EDIT: Wow, thanks for the DD and all the lovely comments. Really appreciate them. Thank you!

EDIT 2: Worked on the woman a little more to improve her Proportions. Not perfect, but better.

EDIT 3: NOW AVAILABLE AS A PRINT.

Had a lot of really cool comments about this Image, which I really, really appreciate.
Now, if only someone would rave about it to Games Workshop! Hint...!

OH MY EMPEROR!, is like: "We fear our own shield". Many times, I wish to see a daily perspective of the Warhammer 40K world, but you know, "IN THE GRIM DARKNESS OF THE FAR FUTURE THERE IS ONLY WAR".

Fuckin Brilliant man, this brings out a side of the Space Marines I have never seen in artwork and indeed a side most of the marine chapters themselves seem to forget in fluff :p Truly Impressive

Sons of Sanguinius. Heroes has come.

"-You are so big- girl said- you are Space Marine? You came to save us?- little girl asked
-Yes girl, Emperor send us- he answered- I shall take back your home."

230cm <- Space Marine
160-170cm <- human woman

bloody awesome, men XD

Interesting concept. You don't often see that kind of depht in warhammer 40k art. You should do another one like that.

That's cute and awesome at the same time. There should be more art like this. Thinking of the childen. It'd be awesome to think of this from one of the xeno's point of view.

For all their bravado about honor and glory, we must all remember that in the end the God-Emperor created the Space Marines as the defenders of Humanity, and that deep down, they are still Human. And only when Astartes forget this do they began to walk the road to damnation and ruin.

this is good, I MEAN GOOD but I honestly think you should change the mom's outfit. When I look at her the only thing I get is Hooker in my mind. It's likes a Hooker with a kid. Just change her skirt and boots. This is still good though. Most people don't understand or get how big Space marines are compared to regular humans.

Sorry, this is going to sound really awful but it looks like he's sharing a human moment with a hooker and her daughter. It's the sexy open skirt and high heels.

It says street walker instead of humble mother, but that's my twisted mind for ya

Amazing picture! Great to see someone giving the 40k universe a "human" moment, showing the common people next to the extraordinary.
Could I make a little request? It would be great to see a guardsman in a similar situation. A grizzled guardsman remembering his family in trenches, or something to that effect.

The Imperial Guard are the backbone of the Imperium! They need to be given more credit!

Is that a Titan in the background? If it is I'm really wondering what kind of force would call for it?

Youve captured a really touching moment in what is essentially harsh, dark and grim subject matter. 40k needs more human quality to it.

True...if any Chapter can avoid civilian casualties, it's either the Salamanders - because the care - or the Blood Ravens - because they're masters of 'Just As Planned'.

Have read a fanfic with the same theme. Ironically enough that one's marine was a Blood Angel too, though the setting was different.

Good job.

I'd really like to know more about the story behind this picture. Probably my biggest question is why that world is under hostility by the spacemarines.
Good art anywho

No idea. I had a vague idea that it's a human hive that's been over run by one of humanities enemies, Genestealers maybe or Chaos, who knows. Anyway, the Space marines have been sent in to cleanse the hive of the pollutant and this is one of their offensives.

Awesome job on this! I think it captures the human element of Blood Angels well, having a Blood Angel Successor Chapter myself.

I like how far back the little girl has to lean to look at him. 9 feet tall is enormous when you're only 2-3 feet tall...
